Napster is available in the UK (I know you asked for alternatives, but wasn't clear if you already know this).
Last.fm is available in the UK, but is not an on-demand streaming service - it is implemented as a radio station streaming service. Deezer is available in the UK, but is also not an on-demand streaming service as implemented in SN - implemented like Last.fm. Spotify can be streamed to your Squeezebox, but you need to have Squeezecenter running to do this - not currently supported in SN.
