The thing is, if I listen to RadioIO or Live365 from my computer
through Winamp, there's never a problem on Sundays or any other day. The
problem is limited only to when I use the Squeezeboxes. Therefore I find
it hard to blame my ISP.

Isn't it true that SqueezeNetwork is a gateway to those services when I
use the Squeezebox? After all, when the signal quits and I try to
restart it with the remote by pushing Play, it says "Connecting to
SqueezeNetwork", not "Connecting to stream". Only after it
re-establishes the SN connection does the connection to the stream
occur.

To me, all evidence points to SqueezeNetwork being the source of the
unreliability.

In fact, it would be nice to be able to completely bypass
SqueezeNetwork in order to access Internet radio, but I assume that
isn't possible (unless perhaps through SqueezeCenter, which I obviously
can't use when the computer is off).
