I'm working on industrial plc's sometimes we implement watchdog
functions in critical programs thus toggling a bit every 2 seconds or
such, then we know that the other machine/program/thing/whatever is dead
.

Idea, note i don't know perl or lua (I'll run and hide somewhere..):

A lua script that exchange toggle bits with a perlscript on the mysbs
server on all squeezeplay based players a time out of for example 10
minute will be ok if mysbs.com fails to respond, switch data center.

On the sbs a perls script exchanging watch dog bits with a perls script
on mysbs, change center if it fails to respond here to.

No idea wich part that should tell the poor old/dum/stupid/slim ip3k
based players where mysbs is now but there probably is a solution to
that to :)

time out can be 10 minutes or so, to not load load mysbs server to
heavy, nothing is going to catch fire so ultra fast watchdog is not
needed.
