I'm always amazed at how quickly people are willing to respond, so many thanks.
I took sbs out of my startup list, did a reboot and then launched sbs after booting. It might have been a longshot Mnyb, but it worked. So at one level the problem is solved for which I send my special thanks. I'm still concerned that this happened (it had been working perfectly with sbs in my startup list) and would like to try andyg's advice and try putting sbs back into startup to see what the proble is. The only trouble is I don't know what network.asyncdns logging is and how to enable it. Further advice would be appreciated, as it seems I'm not the only one with the problem, but for now I'm just happy to have my iPlayer and Live365 back.
