I would like to suggest, in the next firmware update, the option of
choosing which data center one can use to connect to mysqueezebox.com.

In my own case, being located outside the USA, I understand that I am
assigned to the Frankfurt data center. Having done numerous speed tests
and ping tests, I can confirm that the connection between Hong Kong and
Europe is noticeably inferior to the connection between Hong Kong and
almost any server in the USA, by a factor of two or more. I suspect
that this is true for anyone located in east Asia, since most traffic
from this region is routed through either Hong Kong, the Philippines or
Taiwan, which are then directly connected by numerous trunk cables to
the US west coast.

In fact, when I do visual traceroutes to de.mysqueezebox.com (using the
IP 89.202.121.133; I hope that's correct), the routing is through the
USA for the first 5 to 8 stops before it goes to Frankfurt and then
back to the USA.

For this reason, I would like to somehow force my SB3 to connect to a
North American server directly for mysb.com. But I don't have that
option.

What's more, as many Europeans here have noted, there have been
teething problems with European servers. If a server is malfunctioning
or overloaded, then those people really should have the option of
trying to connect to another server.
