Well folks, I solved this - but I don't know (for sure) why it worked. I tried - first of all - deleting my last fm app and then re-loading it. That didn't work.
What worked was deleting the last fm app, then going to last fm website, finding the part labelled 'settings' and then deleting the 'link' to mysqueezebox that is created there. Then I reloaded my last fm app, which re-created the 'link' to mysqueezebox. I guess the link must store the password or something....anyhow, if this ever happens to you - that's the solution!
