My impression (meaning this is pure speculation, not knowledge) is that
Michael's hands are tied where dealing with contractual partners is
concerned. He can respond if they contact him, but he cannot initiate
contact with them. In any case, I suspect he can't alter an existing
app, even if the code should prove to be trivial, without the partner's
approval.

It really depends on the service, sometimes even on the person on the other side. The move from WiMP to TIDAL was something my partner really wanted to see. But he left the company a few years ago...
