Please no. We have enough bugs with implicit zero terminator being forced into buffers that do not need one, screwing up buffer size management and related optimizations/assertions. I suspects it all starts with an innocent 0-terminator added where "it does not seem to hurt and might help". The space(0) call will not work correctly if we start adding implicit 0-terminators.
