FWIW, I have submitted a patch for initial OpenSSL provider support
at <https://github.com/squid-cache/squid/pull/2357>.
I have tested this with the legacy, null, and default providers built
into OpenSSL. Currently have not seen any mention of providers which do
hardware acceleration, and the OpenSSL mentions a 'fips' provider which
is not available on my OS.
If anyone has info on those it would be helpful to mention.
