I'm not even sure > if squid is cause of random system slow/delay moments. ufs is the lowest performing cache dir - it will show the symptoms of slowness you have described. aufs (if you upgrade to 2.5 stable 2) or diskd will be better. As for the memory - no idea. I don't recall any memory leaks in 2.5stable1. I'd upgrade to 2.5 stable 2 as a top priority though.
