>Which version of Samba? Samba 2.2.8a Squid 2.5-STABLE3
>Did you tell Squid where to find your Samba sources when building the helpers? I followed the instructions on this page: http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-23.html#ss23.5 When I compiled it with winbind, I just left it as --with-winbind and not --with-winbind=<path> as I wasn't sure if it would support that argument. Is that what you mean? If I need to add the path, what would I put in? Just the path to the Winbindd executable file (/usr/local/samba/bin/)? When Squid runs though, it doesn't seem to have any problems finding the winbindd files, BUT I did get the errors at the bottom. 2003/08/01 15:05:10| Starting Squid Cache version 2.5.STABLE3 for i686-pc-linux-gnu... 2003/08/01 15:05:10| Process ID 10995 2003/08/01 15:05:10| With 1024 file descriptors available 2003/08/01 15:05:10| Performing DNS Tests... 2003/08/01 15:05:10| Successful DNS name lookup tests... 2003/08/01 15:05:10| DNS Socket created at 0.0.0.0, port 1027, FD 4 2003/08/01 15:05:10| Adding nameserver xxx.xxx.51.19 from /etc/resolv.conf 2003/08/01 15:05:10| helperOpenServers: Starting 5 'wb_auth' processes 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Unlinkd pipe opened on FD 14 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Swap maxSize 102400 KB, estimated 7876 objects 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Target number of buckets: 393 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Using 8192 Store buckets 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Max Mem size: 8192 KB 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Max Swap size: 102400 KB 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Rebuilding storage in /usr/local/squid/var/cache (DIRTY) 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Using Least Load store dir selection 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Set Current Directory to /usr/local/squid/var/cache 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Loaded Icons. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Accepting HTTP connections at 0.0.0.0, port 80, FD 16. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Accepting ICP messages at 0.0.0.0, port 3130, FD 17. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| WCCP Disabled. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Ready to serve requests. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Done reading /usr/local/squid/var/cache swaplog (1431 entries) 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Finished rebuilding storage from disk. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| 1431 Entries scanned 2003/08/01 15:05:16| 0 Invalid entries. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| 0 With invalid flags. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| 1431 Objects loaded. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| 0 Objects expired. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| 0 Objects cancelled. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| 0 Duplicate URLs purged. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| 0 Swapfile clashes avoided. 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Took 0.3 seconds (4817.7 objects/sec). 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Beginning Validation Procedure 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Completed Validation Procedure 2003/08/01 15:05:16| Validated 1431 Entries 2003/08/01 15:05:16| store_swap_size = 13888k 2003/08/01 15:05:17| storeLateRelease: released 0 objects Then I try and authenticate, and it just hangs as I mentioned.
