i am unsure as to why it does not restart. The service itself doesn not stop. The authenticators and parent process atill run, it is that the service does not seem to be able to serve an requests. Below is the mail i sent later out to the list with my specifics.

Then try one of the approaches given on how to get information if getting a core file is not possible. Also your Squid SHOULD restart automatically when this happens. Is there any specific reason to why yours does not? Please give some more details.
