i'm using squid as a reverse-proxy/accelerator in front of three apache servers.
i'm trying to find a way to bind each visitor to a single apache server. from the comments in squid.conf, it looks like balance_on_multiple_ip is what i want: # TAG: balance_on_multiple_ip # Some load balancing servers based on round robin DNS have been # found not to preserve user session state across requests # to different IP addresses. # # By default Squid rotates IP's per request. By disabling # this directive only connection failure triggers rotation. i've disabled balance_on_multiple_ip, but it doesn't seem like squid's behavior has changed. am i mistaken about what this feature does? is there anything else i need to do to get this feature to work?
