I also needed that IMAP to work via Squid.  There was no conclusion on
that thread.
Sure there was a conclusion. A dozen people said "squid is a HTTP proxy, not an IMAP proxy".
There are IMAP proxies out there, but you will not find them via this list.
IMAP is a protocol that differs a lot from HTTP
and there is no easy way to write software that proxies two very different protocols.
