Check cache.log. Squid dumps out a failure reason when the worker dies. Look for "FATAL" and a few lines beforehand just before the "Starting Squid" lines. If all you can find is "Squid exiting normally" then it is caused by someone or something sending Squid a shutdown/restart message. Amos
