helper by any chance?
The issue is inside squid or in the helper.
We need to minimize and find out the source of the issue.

we have (still) the problem that with squid 3.4.x squid will go up to 99% cpu
usage.
when we deactivate external auth helpers squid will stay around 20%.
we have to switch back to squid 3.2.11 which works without problems.
today we did a test with the latest release 3.4.6.
