I run a tail -f /var/log/squid/access.log in an xterm on my second monitor (where syslog and so on are also running) It looks quite busy, but I can glance at it occasionally and sometimes notice URLs that should be blocked. I also run sarg on my squid logs daily to pick up on the top-bandwidth sites and heaviest users.
