Caution! After surfing with ads blocked you'll find it difficult to
go back! :) [You are redirecting to the 1x1.gif file, right?]

I want to answer your last question first: Yes. :)

If your squidGuard.conf contains "domainlist ads/domains",
squidGuard will look for "ads/domains.db", and load it into memory
if it exists. If ads/domains.db does not exist, squidGuard will read
ads/domains and create the in-memory domains.db on-the-fly.

On to the doubleclick issue...

The good news is... that's the way squidGuard works! A domainlist
that contains doubleclick.net will redirect on ANYTHING from
doubleclick.net. BUT that statement is no longer true if that
domainlist also contains ANY subdomain of doubleclick.net
(e.g. m1.doubleclick.net). Read this post for a little background:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=squidguard&m=108260329925644&w=2

I just looked at the ads/domains file that comes in the squidGuard
blacklist, and it has TONS of doubleclick.net entries in it.

The squidGuard package comes with a utility that will solve this
problem for you. The program is "sgclean.pl" and it can be found in
your squidGuard-1.2.0/contrib/sgclean/ directory.

You might want to scan through:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=squidguard&m=108285256707491&w=2
and a follow-up correction:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=squidguard&m=108490116801146&w=2

The bottom line is that sgclean is easy to run and it will solve the
duplicate domain/subdomain problem.

And no, you didn't miss it in the documentation. :)
