Title: RE: Ftp filtering

(trainier, I appology for direct reply, I'm forced to use OWA for writing
this at the moment and I can't answer to squidguard list only)

This is true. Squid can alter ftp traffic when accesed through http protocol.
However, for other ftp access methods it does not interfere.

There are ftp proxies (which most propably can't use squidguard) for proxying
ftp connections (search google).

Ftp traffic can be controlled from a firewall however, and depending of your
firewall you can use different authentication/filtering methods.

Tuukka

Squid is an http proxy.  This means that, if anything else needs to be
proxied, the connect() routine needs to be used to do so.
Filtering doesn't work on this level, best I understand it.

Ftp filtering

Hi all

I need to block some downloads with my squid+squidguard, e.g. audio,
video,etc.
My _expression_ file looks as following:

(\.mp3$|\.mpg$|\.mpeg$|\.avi$|\.wmv$|\.wma$)

This rule works successfully with all http requests - such downloads are
blocked.
But for ftp this doesn't work. I can download these files. Filtering does
not work.
What is wrong?
