I'm not sure how this will affect you, but I generally do a "killall -HUP 
squid" after compiling my database, which by the way, works for me with 
"squidGuard -C all"  That said, you and I may be running different 
versions... or the tools you are using may have the commands I use scripted 
in.  Good luck!
