Really?  Were you put off at all by the fact that it is beta code 
and the author's statement that squidGuard with db 4.1 is many times
slower than previous versions?

I believe 'make uninstall' will do it.  (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong!)

Just keep in mind that you can speed it up by going back to a 3.x
version.

I'm sorry, those are Berkeley DB quesions and I do not know the 
answers.

In order to accumulate more knowledge you should go back to the 
sleepycat patchlogs url listed above and read the "How should patches
be applied" instructions.
