We have had no problems for about 2 years....
But this morning things appear to have gone a little bit STRANGE......
The Linux box was running extremely slowly an we had no Internet access, a
reboot did not help.
TOP showed a large number of squid processes, with squid killed off the
machine ran fine.
I re-installed squid from the Mandrake RPM, and there was still no traffic
throughput. I removed the squidGuard re-director and everything burst into
life.
After much examination playing about, reinstalling squidGuard etc , etc
it's still not working..
Strangely ( Very Strangely ), whilst the cache.log shows squid starting the
re-directors they don't appear as Processes.. What does show is a further
set of squid processes ( the same number as re-director children ) !!! So
it seems that squid is somehow launching itself as a re-director.
I have manualy tested squidGuard as root and it works fine,
I am very confused now.
Help!
Robin
