I stand corrected... not all that familiar with Debian and should have
rephrased my comment to be more platform-agnostic :)

It's nice that Debian has provided an install... what I was trying to
emphasize was that you don't necessarily ***compile*** SquirrelMail...
a configure, a few mkdir's, cp's, chown and the like, but no make.
I've often learned a lot about the the software and how it's laid out
from following the README/INSTALL rather than using an automated tool,
particularly when the manual install is so simple.
Doesn't mean it's the right way, but seems to work better for me when
I need to track something down and I really like being able to take a
peek at things before I hit that enter key :)
