Actually I think you have it slightly wrong. Courier supports nested
folders, and you can store mail in all the folders, including subs,
and parents of subs.  UW IMAP only allows you to store mail in sub
folders... ie:

(* Mail can be stored here)
Courier:

- INBOX  *
- Trash  *
- Sent   *
- Drafts *
- Lists  *
  - Sub  *
    - Another *

UW IMAP:

- INBOX  *
- Trash  *
- Sent   *
- Drafts *
- Lists
  - Sub
    - Another *
