Ok, I had some problems with this too but found that on the Prefs >>
folders page at the top it had selected the INBOX.Sent.{year} so I moved
it to just INBOX.Sent, unsubscribed to all and resubscribed to INBOX.Sent
and was able to remove the dated DIRs for the Sent folders.
Not sure if this will help or if it's the same thing.
