I have a client who has been using different versions of Netscape to access
a UW Imap server. His .mailboxlist file contains both complete folder paths
for each mailbox as well as progressively complete folder paths for the
hierarchy of folders. The .mailbox file has been hand edited and
has been modified by older versions of Netscape that allowed folder creation
as well as the latest version which seems to only allow mailbox creation.
While Netscape is not directly related to this list, the behavior is.
Netscape handles this .mailboxlist just fine -- SquirrelMail does not.

There are several mailboxes many of which are nested several layers deep.
The .mailboxlist file contains one entry for each mailbox. For example:

Mail/a/b/c/d
Mail/a/b/c/e
Mail/x/y/z

Netscape displays all of this correctly.

However, when I try to access this with SquirrelMail, I only see lines for
d, e, f -- no folders with +'s or -'s for a, b, c, x, and y. If I change
the .mailboxlist file to contain the following, everything is visible:

Mail/a/
Mail/a/b
Mail/a/b/c
Mail/a/b/c/d
Mail/x
Mail/x/y
Mail/x/y/z

Any ideas how to fix this so SquirrelMail constructs the right set of
folders? Should SquirrelMail be more resilent to .mailboxlist files that
have not been created from within SquirrelMail?

I am running SquirrelMail 1.2.10 with the "uw" server switch set.

Thanks.

Richard
