Dear fellow squirrelmailers,

I have been playing with SM and I've noticed that some part of it is
particularly unforgiving about large folder lists.

I have about 700 folders, with about 2/3 of them in subfolders. It
appears that SM tries to index the entire list, everytime you log in or
refresh. This takes about 25 seconds, and maxes my CPU the entire time.
I was hoping it would only re-index the main folders, and not expand every
folder.

Is this normal? I've tried using up-imapproxy and php-accelerator and it
hasn't made a bit of difference. I'm using a relatively new version of
uw-imap on my test box (5/2003) if that makes any difference. I also
tried it running on another box - slightly slower, same s/w except older
IMAP server, and it ran about the same time.

Here are my specs.

Sun Blade 100 (550 MHz)
1152 MB RAM
Ultra-320 SCSI drives

SM 1.4.1
PHP 4.3.2
UW-IMAP 2003.338

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks,

Rob
