Do not open any email attachments in messages claiming to come from the

There is a new mass-mailing worm out that has brought a lot of companies
to a halt over the last few days. First seen on Friday, the worm has hit
hard in the US and UK today.

A description of the worm can be viewed here:

and here...

Microsoft has issued a patch to fix the security vulnerability that this
worm exploits. We suggest that you update your windows systems
immediately:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330994

The worm comes in a message with the following characteristics:

-Subject line: your account <random letters>
-Message text:
-Hello there, I would like to inform you about important information
-regarding your email address. This email address will be expiring.
-Please read attachment for details.
---
-Best regards, Administrator
-Attached file: message.zip

As a precautionary measure until this threat is diminished, we are now
posting email attachments on the server and providing links to the
attachment rather than encoding them into email messages.

There is a function on the mcleodlake.com mail server that denies sending
executable attachments (those with common virus extensions, such as .exe,
.pif, etc.) and there is also an option to view the contents of zipped
files in the email interface. Please use these functions to better protect
yourself from receiving viral infections via email.

This message has been sent to because you are on one of our contact lists.
Please feel free to pass it along to your contacts.

Thank you.

Kind regards,
