Take a look at the SM plugins page; there are three plugins that already
do this kind of thing:  Address Take (which comes preinstalled with SM
1.4.x) allows you to grab email addresses from the message being viewed
currently with a button at the bottom of the screen.  Address Add places
a link at the top of the page and lets you pull the sender's address
into the address book.  The Sent Confirmation plugin lets you put any
addresses that you sent a message to into the address book (view style
number 3).
