HI all,
i know that there is a FAQ where some performance
related facts are described but i still would like to ask
something.
first the details to my system
webmail :
squirellmail 1.4.1
mailserver :
courier 0.43.1
cpu
: amd-k6 400 MHz
memory : 192
MB
disk :
20 GB
apache :
Server version: Apache/2.0.47
there are 6 domains where each has about 3
mailboxes running on the server.first i have to say that everything si working.
when i'm using as example outlook express as imap client the server response
time is perfect. when i start using squirellmail as webmail, thngs are changing.
after reading trough the FAQ abaut Performance i installed imap-proxy and also
php-accelerator. at least i think that the imap-proxy increases the performance
a little bit, but by far not enough.
after i logge din, it takes some time till it shows
my my inbox. reading the messages (next, previous) works quite fast. when i mark
an email an hit the delet button, then the bad thing happend. it takes up to
30-60 seconds till i get byck my view of the inbox. during this time i executed
"top" ony my sytem and saw that the impad process is eating quite a lot of cpu
time. the http process didn't even show up under the top 10 cpu time consumers
so i thing it shouldn't be a problem of php_acceletarion nor
imap-proxy.
since i don't have this situation when i use
outlook express to acces my mailbox (also via imap) i think it could have
something to do with squirellmail, but i'm not sure. i also saw that there are
some notes concerning the optimisation of the imapd process on the squirellmail
FAQ site. i read it trough but i couldn't imagine what i should do
now.
did anyone had a similar situation ? what could i
do to make it more comfortable and faster working with the squirellmail webmail
?
