Hi! I'm running SquirrelMail-1.4.1 on a RedHat 8 Linux box with Apache 1.3.27 and PHP-4.2.3 running. SquirrelMail has been running fine, but I've run into a strange problem.

I have about 400 messages in my inbox. I clicked "Show All" to see all of the messages on one page. I then clicked the "From" link to sort the messages by the "From" column. It worked fine. When I clicked the "Date" link to now sort the messages by the "Date" column, I get this error:

Preference file, /userid%domain.com.pref.tmp, could not be opened. Contact your system administrator to resolve this issue.

I DID find this topic in the mailing list archives:

http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=5617769

The _strange_ thing is the path being reported in my error, since SquirrelMail is installed in "/mnt/websites/domain.com/squirrelmail-1.4.1".

Based on the topic in the archives, I made sure the permissions on the "data" directory were set to 775, to allow Apache write access.

Any ideas as to what could be going on?

Thanks...

Peace...
