Hi,

I have rerun config.pl after a new install of 1.4.2 from 1.2.7 on a linux machine

I simply untarred the directory into my path & renamed it to webmail

Now when trying to log in as user i get the following

ERROR Error opening ../data/default_pref
Could not create initial preference file!
../data/ should be writable by user nobody
Please contact your system administrator and report this error

This file has attributes as follows

-rwxrwxrwx 1 1000 1000 82 Mar 9 2001 default_pref

I changed it to 777 just to see if this was an issue but obviously not

Regards

Andrew

directory ../data/ should be writable by nobody ( user which web server process run as ) too.
If I'm not wrong, there are two error here, 1. Error opening ../data/default_pref
I think there is a setting error inside here, please run config.pl again.

2. ../data/ should be writable by user nobody
Set the attribute to 777 to test, you should adjust to suite your need after successful testing.
