Hi guys, This is perhaps not so much a matter of Squirrelmail discussion but I hope you don't mind my asking here since the audience (being mail server administrators) is perfect.
Could you guys let me know what kind of user base you have on a single machine running Squirrelmail frontend? If you could specify exim/sendmail that would be useful too. I'm currently running with about 1000 users and already seem to see some server strain - this seems a bit low but I AM on a virtual private server (root access to a shared server). I was wondering if I could expect to have say 10,000 users checking their mail on my machine before I need to get into server farms etc. Research brought up a few posts on google groups stating servers with LOADS of users...then they specify like 600. =-/ Would it make it much more efficient if i split the html front end from the mail server? Ie have a dedicated IMAP machine which communicates via a LAN to the apache squirrelmail front. Thanks for any information advice!
