Hi folks.

currently running SM/1.42 on Apache/1.3.27 with PHP/4.1.2
along with uw-imap 2002e

It seems the username (and possibly the password) is being mangled
occasionally when passed through to the imap server. Users are having to
try a number of times before they can finally login.

I keep seeing the following in the logs..

Dec 3 15:47:48 imap-serv imapd[10762]:
Login failure user=\1m\1i\1k\1e\1y\1s\1 host=www.ee.surrey.ac.uk

The username get mangled from mikeys to \1m\1i\1k\1e\1y\1s\1

It is not a browser problem, since we see this with IE, Moz and Netscape
on Windows and Unix systems.

I am wondering if anyone else has seen this error message and what could
be the problem.
