Well, I fixed it after a while. Seems that (Debian woody at least) GNU
imap4d don't work with Squirrelmail (1.4.2 at least). I am now using the
latest UW server (I have to, because of UNIX mailboxes) on a different port.

For the autoactivate, I simply used perl + "find mail -type f" etc.
