It could be that you don't have the correct config settings for your type of IMAP server. There are recommended settings here: http://cvs.sf.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/squirrelmail/squirrelmail/doc/presets.txt?rev=1.1 However, if you're using UWIMAP then you should also look at the post I made yesterday as I think that one of the recommended settings for UWIMAP may no longer be appropriate for newer versions of UW.
