SquirrelMail is not email server software. It is php based email client that uses IMAP protocol. MDaemon provides IMAP support in Pro version. You should be able to use SquirrelMail with MDaemon Pro. If you are planning to replace http://www.altn.com/ MDaemon, you will have to replace it with some other smtp+pop3+imap+antivirus+web control panel+other bells and whistles solution. I think MDaemon uses own user database format.
