I can eliminate some possibilities:
* I've searched the website/web and have tried the suggestions there...
checking permissions (mostly).
* The permissions on my attachment directories are owned by www:www (my
apache user).
* I have added the attachment, webmail, and tmp directories to my php_base
* I see the tmp file being created in the directory I have php setup to
use, but it is of 0 length after failure.

What about relevant php.ini settings, such as file_uploads, upload_tmp_dir, upload_max_filesize....

The problems only started with recent versions of php4.
The last update I did was to version: php-4.3.6_1

Please state versions that are problematic.

I'm running squirrelmail 1.4.2

Has anyone else experienced/seen this same issue? Everything else seems
to work fine.
I've even been able to upload images (using a form) to gallery (a
different php-based app).

Help? 8)
Please let me know if you need additional information.

You might also try a manual PHP installation, if that is an option.
