Ah, you could be right. His message was so unclear and so lacking in detail that I had to infer what he was after. I think your inference is more accurate. > Basically, in the 'Compose' window, click the 'Addresses' button to open > the address book. I agree. That's one behaviour that I don't like. IMHO, it's not correct behaviour, though it may not violate any standard. > Note that if I type a Nickname from the addressbook into the To: field, > that will be expanded on send to the full address, including the name > part. It's just the addressbook popup that exhibits this problem. No, typing nicknames also exhibits poor behaviour, at least in SM 1.4.2. If I have an address book entry of "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" with name of "John Smith" and nickname of "stinky", when I type "stinky" in the To field, it expands to " stinky <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ". It should, IMHO, substitute the assigned name, but instead it uses the nickname and that is what the recipient sees. In other mail software, nicknames are just internal shortcuts for the user, and the full recipient name replaces the nickname. I dislike how SM works in this regard, as the nickname becomes more important than the real assigned name. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: Oracle 10g Get certified on the hottest thing ever to hit the market...
