Hi,

We have SM 1.4.0 on redhat fc1 linux, that is running well in most time.
However, I had a problem with weather plugin. Although it happened just
one time, I'd like to know if it can be improved.

The weather plubgin works well except one time: suddenly the left-panel
became white background with the following error message (not exactly, but
close):

fsockopen() wrong: server http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ port 80 not available...

I was writing an email, but it became frozen. I could not save my writing
to Draft, could not go to the Option page. I had to open ssh shell to
edit my pref, and delete the weather plugin line, then I refreash the SM
page and everything came back. I know it is not SM's problem and noaa's
web should be on 24x7, but sometimes anything can go wrong, even for a
short time of period. I wonder if the weather.php can be revised so that
if noaa's web site is on, then displays the normal weather info, if it
cannot be reached, don't send fsockopen() error, but display a general
message, such as "Weather channel not available at moment, please
wait...". Then, the next time when the folder list is refreshed, it
should display normal weather information if noaa's web site becomes
available.

Thanks!

Hongwei Li
