I'm having an issue that may not apply directly to Squirrelmail but if
someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

I configured a Suse 8.1 box with Squirrelmail 1.4.3a to query my Postfix
1.1.12 and UW-IMAP 2001a-142. (PHP 4.2.2-276, Apache 1.3.26-159) and it is
working fine after some configuration issues were resolved regarding folder
prefixs.

As I was reviewing my mailbox through Outlook, after sending and receiving
test through Squirrelmail, I noticed that I had a folder named "~". This
folder was empty except a Sent Items and Trash folder. In my genius I
deleted the "~" folder as I thought it was just an empty folder.

Of course deleting this "folder" deleted all my email and folders except
what was in /var/spool/mail; deleting the "~" folder deleted all the mail in
my home directory.

Does anyone know why this happened or any way to recover the mail? I am
using the mbox format.

I believe the "~" folder is related to the configuration of the folder
prefix settings for SQM/UW-IMAP. I tried various settings based on ideas in
the FAQ section of the Squirrelmail website.

I posted to the UW-IMAP newsgroup but the only reply so far is from someone
who had the same problem.

Thanks in advance.

Paul
