I would like to know if there is a way to check the mailbox size and the amount of space remaining on my SquirrelMail account.
You can see how big the messages in a mailbox are with Options -> Index Order. I believe there is a plugin that will add the total size of the mailbox to the folders pane.
The quota plugin will tell you how much space you have remaining, assuming your system administrator set up quotas. (IMAP quotas, not filesystem quotas)
There is actually one plugin that checks filesystem quotas too, er, IIRC I think that's the difference:
