Hello,
I am cc'ing the Declude support address, as I believe this is a problem with their software, not SquirrelMail. You may also want to pass this along to the provider to whom you spoke, as anyone else sending emails to their system with a similar "problem" may find that their mails do not get through.
I have customers whose hosting providers use the Declude spam filter. My emails from SM 1.4.3a would always come up the the BADHEADERS test failed. I contacted their support and received the following response. "The problem is with this header:
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Specifically, the Message-ID: header is required to have a domain name after the "@", and 129.44.73.207 isn't a domain name. There is a special exception for IPs, but it requires brackets around them (so "[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" would be valid)."
From RFC 2392:
"Both message-id and content-id are required to be globally unique. That is, no two different messages will ever have the same Message-ID addr-spec; no different body parts will ever have the same Content-ID addr-spec. A common technique used by many message systems is to use a time and date stamp along with the local host's domain name, e.g., [EMAIL PROTECTED]"
That is to say, that provider's analysis appears to be based on an assumption that apparently common usage is a rule per RFC. This is not the case as far as I can tell. Declude appears to be over-zealous in this regard. Perhaps we might consider adding the brackets, as it is correct that brackets are required to designate hosts using IP addresses, but this does not appear to be mandated for Message-ID in any way.
