But as far as multi servers for this (for fault tolerance?) wouldn't a basic mail server with important files on a RAID be sufficient?
I would certainly say so. The OP seems to be trying to offer high-availability, though, which is different than just making sure your data is not going to get lost.
I might build my mail server w/ RAID, and ghost it to a back-up drive I keep in a bomb-proof safe (off-property, of course).
Bomb-proof. Cluster? Nuke? Smart? Laser-guided tactical? The kind that don't hit hospitals and weddings and only hit the bad guys? That must have been expensive. ;)
Seems like your plan would be fine for a small to mid-sized implementation.
I want to know if there sizing for the qmail installation. I want to build qmail system with the following installations:
MySQL OpenSSL Apache qmail vpopmail qmailadmin Courier-IMAP SquirrelMail Qmail-Scanner / Clam AntiVirus / SpamAssassin
I want to use it for about 2500 users.
If anyone know the hardware (server specs.) for that installation. or anyone has a case like this, Please tell me.
Another question; If I want to build a high availability system like clusters and load balancing between two symmetric servers, how can I maintain this ?
Or how can replicate the data (Mysql data and Maildirs) from the two servers if I cannot build the cluster?
Also If anyone know how to maintain this or has a similar case , Please advice me.
