I just put into production Fedora Core 3 with squirrelmail 1.4.3a-6.FC3
using dovecot and postfix. We are migrating from Fedora Core 1 with
squirrelmail 1.4.0-1 using UWimap and postfix. I seem to be seeing a
difference in behavior in the email address field in the address book.

We had previously been using unqualified names in the email address field
for local users. For example, a nickname of john and an email address of
jdoe. When I use john in the To field of compose and send the message,
then, with 1.4.3, I get an error message, transaction failed, Server
replied: 554 Error: no valid recipients.

However, with 1.4.0, this worked and the email was properly sent to the
local recipient.

If I update the address book email address field to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] then the send works.

Furthermore, if there is at least one correct address in the destination
addresses of a compose, then the sender is not told that there is an error
and assumes that all addresses have been successful sent. They are
actually just dropped in the bit bucket.

Which is the correct behavior? Should squirrelmail be appending the local
address to names that do not have one in the email address field as it
does in the destination addresses of Compose?

Do I have something misconfigured in 1.4.3a?
