Sure enough the upgrade to php version 4.3.10-3.2 and restart of httpd did the trick.

Please do not reply to me personally; everyone wants to see how/if you resolve the problem. :) Also, try not to top-post if possible. Thanks.

My customers complain about an error message they get when trying to send or reply to emails.
"The connection to web.ptera.net:80 has terminated unexpectedly. Some data may have been transferred."
This a browser error window. And the compose email page never changes.
Checking the SENT box shows the email being sent.

Squirrelmail 1.4.4-1
httpd 2.0.52-3.1
Sendmail 8.13.1-2
dovecot 0.99.13-3.FC3
Fedora Core 3

Sounds like an Apache and/or PHP problem to me, not necessarily related to SM. If you want more hints, you need to look in your error logs.

You're right, they look OK. There are not any other messages? You can try to increase log verbosity, check apache access log just to keep yourself sane. FC3 has some nasty SELinux problems out of the box, so you should also be watching /var/log/messages. And you did not mention your PHP version. You can try upgrading it if it is not current. Other things to try are deactivating all SM plugins, increasing PHP error logging to E_ALL and making sure you have nothing unusual in your PHP installation. FWIW, I have seen problems like this in the past, and the only thing I've ever heard that has worked is a reinstall of Apache and/or PHP. Oh, and you should deactivate any PHP accelerator software you have installed until you can fix the problem.

Good luck.
