The way IMAP works is thusly:  You tag messages for deletion.. but the
actual deletion doesn't take place until you EXPUNGE them.  Squirrelmail
is (by default) configured to auto-expunge on deletion, assuming that you
really mean it when you say delete.

See if you can get Thunderbird or your other clients to do an auto-expunge
on deletion.  This is not a Squirrelmail issue at all, not a bug, not
unexpected behavior - you're seeing exactly what you should.  Deleted but
not yet expunged messages.  Squirrelmail IS an IMAP client after all.
