Where can I find my mail server logs?

I use squirrelmail on the web through a browser, and get this message
when logging in:
Error: could not complete the request
Request: SELECT "INBOX"
internal error occured....
You need to look in your mail server logs. They'll contain more
specific
information about the problem that you can use for Google fodder if the
solution isn't immediately apparent.
I can open drafts and trash folders, but not inbox.
This has probably happened becasue I accidentally deleted the
"internal
folder data"-message...
But I don't know how to get it back..
It's been my experience that this isn't a problem. You just lose
message
status information.
