Why do people so like to second guess users?  Why not set sensible
defaults for those who will never change them, and let advanced users
tweak things to their desire?

uh?

1) never "remove", only comment it out
2) always make backups before you do something like that
3) download the source again, you did it once, I assume you can do it again

4) READ THE DOCS before asking questions.  If you had, you'd have found
$week_start_day_default in the configuration file
