Simplified, HTML is      <tag>   text    </tag>

Unrecognized tags are ignored, generally.

XML et al extend the simplified HTML example, above.

Your first <===] might be taken as a begin tag;
your second [===> completes it;
your third <===] is like an open quote, i.e., it never completes.


Hence, a) can you change your   >   and   <   to  HTML entities
instead, i.e., &gt; and &lt;   ?

Or to some other ASCII character?

      [===! Please enter your reply above this line !===]
